The debate on the limes of Western Dacia came to a dead end when the issue of its builders was raised, although it already had a solution: only the Roman Empire had the motivation, the opportunity and the means to set up this strategic objective. The limes is not only an earth wall. It also includes roads, fortifications and neighbouring settlements. The main urban centres of the region between the Western Carpathians and the Tisza River owe their existence to this objective.
