In order to understand the nuances of the historical reality in the Danube region in the second half of the first millennium, it is often necessary to analyze it’s evolution at a scale covering several centuries. This essay proposes an analysis based on the comparison of the events that took place in the region in the years 818, 1018 and 1218 AD.
