Attested in 578 and 594, respectively, in the context of confrontations with the Avar troops and those of the Empire of Constantinople, the politico-military leaders Daurentios and Musocius have in common more than an accidental presence in the Carpatho-Danubian region. The analysis of the historical and geo-political context reveals data specific to an institutional continuity.
